The pandemic situation has become grim and worrisome in many countries over the last few weeks, and just like many of our friends, we are concerned and hope that we can do something to help.

In the Tibetan canon, the Mahāsūtra “On Entering the City of Vaiśālī” recorded the Sanskrit dharani and the verses Buddha Shakyamuni taught Ananda for pacifying the epidemic in Vaishali. The English translation can be downloaded from the 84,000 Reading Room: https://read.84000.co/translation/toh312.html

The Kumarajiva Project, a Khyentse Foundation initiative, is completing the Chinese translation of this text and will be making it available in the coming days.

We would like to offer our sincerest appreciation to Professor Peter Skilling for providing the Sanskrit dharani, our Indian sangha Amay, Asha, and Zubin Balsara, and Balint Varga, a talented composer from New York, for recording this dharani for us.

May we chant the SŪTRA together and May all pandemics be thoroughly pacified.
