Khyentse Foundation has co-operated with the Dharma Drum Institute of Liberal Arts and the Fa-kuang Institute of Buddhist Studies, since 2014 and 2015 respectively, to develop translation talent training programs. In addition to providing various courses related to Tibetan Buddhist scripture translation, the foundation provides scholarships for dedicated students who want to take further courses related to Tibetan Buddhist scriptures. After years of hard work, the two institutes have gradually fostered a core team of budding translators who are participating in the initial translation work, and demand is rising from others to receive further training.
We also provide Tibetan scholars with the opportunity to learn Chinese Buddhist scriptures and the Chinese language. We hope that these scholars will become the main Tibetan Buddhist scriptural advisers for the translation project, emulating the close working model of the Indian Buddhist masters and translators of the past. We hope that in the near future, we will have further fresh forces to invest in this centuries-long undertaking of successfully completing the Chinese translation of the Buddhist scriptures from Tibetan.
